Port St. Joe

Port St. Joe was originally focused around the St. Joe Paper Company.  Best put, “these times, they are a changing”.  With the closing of the mill back in 1998, the town began a transformation from an industrial based economy to a tourist-friendly community – focusing on the unrivaled natural resources of the St. Joe Bay and the pristine beauty of the town.

Port St. Joe, which is the county seat of Gulf County, is a small town with big perks!  The town sits on the St. Joe Bay.  It is rich with natural beauty and friendly folks.  Its residents enjoy the beaches, snorkeling, scalloping, fishing, boating and kayaking in the bay.

The downtown area offers boutique shops and restaurants.  The St. Joe Marina, which was completed in 1999, offers 128 wet slips, 79 dry storage units, fuel pumps, a supply store and bay-front restaurant that offers live music in the summer.  Since the town faces the west, you can watch the sun drop over the bay.

St.Joe, as its commonly known by the locals, is a hospitable community that prides itself on old fashioned values and family activities.  The town literally “shuts down” on Thursday and Friday nights for football and basketball.  This little community feels that its greatest asset is its children.  If you are looking for a family-based coastal community – Port St. Joe is your best bet!
